PURPOSE
In 2011, life brought me to my knees with a devastating rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. As a former Pro Ballet Dancer (I quit at 16, s I was too short and curvy for ballerinas at the time) I studied at the best Juilliard and Joffrey Ballet NYC, I watched helplessly as my body betrayed me, my left elbow fusing within days of diagnosis. The prognosis was clear: no cure, lifelong medications, and inevitable disability.
But my two-year-old son saw something different. In his eyes, I was still a superhero. His unwavering belief became the spark that would ignite not just my own healing, but a movement that would touch thousands of lives.
When the world said "impossible," my heart whispered "watch me"
I made an unconventional choice: rejecting traditional treatments, I began teaching Zumba while still disabled. Each class was a testament to possibility, even when every movement brought pain. What happened next defied all expectations – people began flooding in, drawn not just to the dance but to the raw authenticity of watching someone choose hope over limitation.
That single class grew to become globally renowned as one of the world's most attended Zumba class, a title it's held for over a decade. But the true miracle wasn't in the numbers – it was in the community we built. Students who had never exercised found their strength. Those battling their own challenges discovered new hope. Together, we created a space where transformation wasn't just possible – it was contagious.
